Youth Summer Recreation
Since 2012, the Summer Recreation Program has offered a program of enriching, educational, and fun activities for the children in the Lubec area. The program is available for young children who have completed or are registered for kindergarten beginning in September 2023 and for youth up to 12. On any given day during the program 30 to 40 children can be found at LCOC.
Our summer program director is Margaret Casey, a well-respected (and loved) teacher in Lubec for years. Program staff will include local teachers, as well as local high school and college age persons; all staff are trained in working with children, have completed background checks and are First Aid and CPR certified.
This year's Summer Recreation Program will run for 7 weeks beginning June 26 and ending August 11.
- See Themes/Descriptions below
We will be integrating Science Technology Engineering Arts & Math (STEAM) projects and programs for participants. Activities will include gardening, cooking as chemistry, robotics, engineering, 3-D printing/communications, sewing and more. Local experts and volunteers will participate and support focused activities, offering children positive role models, and added expertise.
Field trips are included in the program and will include a variety of educational and recreational activities available in Washington County and beyond. We are grateful for our partners who make these field trips possible including Cobscook Shores, the Lubec Memorial Library, Wabanaki Cultural Center, the UMM pool, Smithereen Farm, and many more.
REGISTRATION IS CLOSED.
Questions on this year’s program should be directed to the LCOC Office 207.733.5262
